5 Ways to Stay Grounded in the Midst of Chaos

How many ladies out there work a full time job, dance professionally, workout five times a week and still find time for side gigs?

Can I get an amen?!

What a lot of people don’t realize is that professional cheerleaders and dancers have full-time jobs in addition to their dance career, in order to pay the bills. We do what we do because we love dancing, not because of the pay.

Cheerleaders are often the ambassadors for professional sports teams. Their positions are  used for marketing, public relations, fan engagement, etc. They are usually in the public eye, which sometimes causes people to make assumptions or set high standards. Part of a cheerleader’s role is to be a friendly face and public figure. Fans may not  see or understand the struggles, hard work and stress that goes on outside of that.

Life can be overwhelming. It’s hard to juggle multiple jobs. I get it. So here are some  tips to help you stay spiritually grounded amidst the stressful workload.

Pray.

Pray when you wake up. Pray on your way to work. Pray when those negative thoughts pop up. Pray when you start comparing yourself. Pray for the big things and pray for the small things. 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.” The more you talk to God, the more grounded you will become in your relationship with Christ. Christ will give you the strength you need to make it through those hard times.

Stay in the Word.

Anything you are facing, anything you need answers for, I promise you will find in the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Take 10 minutes out of your day, every day, to read and pray. Try it for three months, and I promise that it will change everything. It did for me.

Serve others.

In the video above, Brittany mentions that it’s easy to “get caught up in the make-up and lights and hooplah.” So how can we refrain from bringing all the attention to us? Instead of focusing on yourself, direct the glory to God by serving others. The best part about being on a team is having several other women who you can help encourage and serve in whatever capacity needed.

Be authentic.

In the days of social media, it’s easy to show only the side of your life that is going well. We live in a time where it’s difficult to open up about the struggles we face day-to-day. But how we connect with people is through our struggles and our vulnerability. Don’t be afraid to share what you are going through because God will use that to help others. Be honest. Be authentic.

Stay Humble.

Anyone who is dancing at the professional level is very talented and blessed to be there. Remember that God gave a unique set of gifts to each person, and it is our job to use them to glorify Him. Take time daily or weekly to write out what you are thankful for. Remember where you came from and thank God for helping you get to where you are now.

She is clothed with strength and dignity,

and she laughs without fear of the future.”
