What does your day-to-day routine look like? You may wake up, go to work, then head back home. Perhaps you stop at the grocery store or post office. Maybe you attend a workout class twice a week. Life for most is pretty full. Choosing a profession in cheerleading often comes with a jam-packed, chaotic schedule that can be demanding at best
Being on a dance team is a huge time commitment. With every event comes an opportunity to meet new people. However, you are responsible for a full schedule of games to balance and manage on top of a full-time job. There is also the strict required workout regimen and a list of appearances to attend.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;” – Matthew 5:14
Shine your light!
Your Team. My favorite part about being on a dance team is the group of women I get to spend all my time with. It is a joy getting to know them and encouraging them through the difficult seasons of life. As Cassidy mentioned in the video, this often means praying with the team before a game or after a practice. Speaking words of encouragement and grace over my best friends is one of my favorite things to do.
Your Community. People see professional cheerleaders at various games every week, but what they often don’t understand is what they are doing within the community. Being a professional cheerleader not only provides entertainment at games but also entails becoming an ambassador for the organization. Often cheerleaders are asked to visit people in hospitals, read to elementary school kids or attend local fundraising events. This provides a unique opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving others.
Your Circle of Influence. Lastly, professional cheerleaders have a unique circle of influence. News stations often ask cheerleaders to appear on the air, radio talk shows are common, and countless young girls aspire to one day wear that uniform. Being in the public eye is both a privilege and a huge responsibility. It holds cheerleaders to a high standard and allows them to inspire others to go after their dreams.
Regardless of your situation, where you are or what you’re doing, everywhere can be a mission field. If you are shining your light for God than nothing can hide that.
